Now on this once a year event, we like to have a draft. It's very similar to our Skybox Draft and our Raytheon Draft. The Skybox Draft occurs when you go to Skybox in Tewksbury and you must draft according to what random people you will find there. The Raytheon Draft occured when we would draft members of a graduating collegiate class from Tewksbury and which ones would end up working at Raytheon.
These days, the TET draft usually has about 7 rounds, just like the NFL draft. While the draft order has not been set, tensions are already running pretty high. In fact, I've employed some scouts to check out the Tewksbury scene. The Skybox in Tewksbury is almost like the Scouting Combine in the weeks before Thanksgiving so it will give you a good idea of who will be out on TET.
Let me go over a few rules. You can't do insider trading. Meaning, if you find out Jackie Conlon is going to be at TCC, you cant draft her. The draft is based on integrity. Second, you cant draft friends. You can only draft oddities, randoms, and people you generally would not want to see again for the rest of your life.
So, without further ado, let's do a TET mock draft
Round 1
DAVIS - 1 - Matt Coppi - You can never fail with a Matt Coppi selection. Arguably the toast of the Skybox community, Coppi has a sleeping bag in the bar and usually doesnt even make it home. That being said, Skybox isnt in the plans for TET, so he is a somewhat risky pick.
D - 2 - Brian Deshler - Deshler's class were seniors when I was a freshman so obviously they were a bit intimidating. Then I waited about a week. Deshler is a solid pick this year as you can guarantee that he and his friends will do some sort of moustache contest or other contest and show it off to as many people as possible. It wouldnt shock me if he gets drafted extremely high.
BYRNE - 3 - Jackie Conlon - The proud daughter of Mr. Conlon, Jackie embodies all of Tewksbury's qualities. It's hard to imagine a TET event without her and I imagine she gets drafted pretty high here by Byrne. He made an outstanding pick on her as a sleeper a few years ago and I imagine he'll reach if he has to to get her again.
BOOSH - 4 - Ashley Riccardi - That's right folks. with the younger classes coming of age, it creates an entire new field of contenders. Riccardi, or any younger TMHS grad, is a very risky pick because their habits have yet to be discovered. I think Riccardi herself is a solid pick because she is never afraid to get blackout drunk and embarass herself in front of anyone.
JIMMY - 5 - Brian Ganley - You gotta figure Jimmy was going for shock value here picking a guy who committed armed robbery to show up at TET.
HARRISON - 6 - John Muccio. You gotta figure Muccio will be somewhere in attendance so he can invite everyone to more of his Boston parties and get us on VIP lists. Harrison may have some insider info though considering they were both on the Astros in Major Leagues.
ROCCO - 7 - Sara Viddinha. It won't be a good decision by any means. Clear case of Rocco thinking with his little head.
C - 8 - Paul Burt/Haven. We havent seen much of Paul lately, but I'm not sure if C can resist the rewards of a Paul Burt selection.
I'm hoping Jimmy can pull off a timeline preview of the evening as well. I'll let you know how the draft results go. Should be a good TET
-- Boosh
A first round and no Caliendo? What about Jack O'Brien, women's soccer coach?
ReplyDeleteGreat post Jeff, but seriously Dick Zbieg brings up some stellar choices. Also, I think C will quite possibly win with a Burt choice at 8.
ReplyDeleteHAHHAHA..... who is Mount Murray and is there really a mtmurray.com ..... its blocked at work rite now damnnnit
